Dr. Benjamin Geva is a Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto, Canada. He specializes in commercial and banking law, particularly in credit and secured transactions, negotiable instruments and payment mechanisms. He is the author of Financing Consumer Sales and Product Defenses in Canada and the United States, a textbook on consumer bills and notes, and the co-author of Commercial and Consumer Transactions - Cases, Text and Materials. He has written numerous periodical articles in the United States, England, Canada, Australia, South Africa, France and Israel, primarily in the negotiable instruments and payments area. Professor Geva is also the editor-in-chief of theBanking and Finance Law Review and has consulted in the payment and funds transfer law area. He held visiting positions in the United States (at Universities of Chicago, Illinois, and Utah), Israel (at Tel Aviv University), Australia (at Monash, Deakin, and Melbourne Universities) and France (at the University of Aix-Marseille) and has been acting for the International Monetary Fund as a payment law expert in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. Professor Geva received his LL.B from Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel in 1970 and obtained an LL.M in 1975 and his S.J.D. in 1980, both from Harvard University. He was admitted to the bars of Israel and Ontario, Canada.
