The publication of the fifth edition of the Insolvency and Directors' Duties Global Guide 2016 (formerly International Insolvency: Group Insolvency and Directors' Duties) continues to expand its jurisdictional scope as well as its analysis on directors' and officers' duties in the "zone of insolvency".

The 2008/2009 global financial crisis, which resulted in a number of international companies becoming financially distressed and seeking relief through insolvency filings, highlighted a number of deficiencies on both national and international levels in the differing manners in which countries address the multitude of cross-border issues arising in the administration of distressed global companies.

With commentary from leading lawyers addressing complex cross-border insolvency issues and rescue provisions, this fifth edition of the Insolvency and Directors' Duties Global Guide 2016 gives law firms and corporate counsel an insight into the key insolvency laws and issues across numerous jurisdictions.

It particularly focuses on recently enacted laws, initiatives or rulings in various countries that touch on the insolvency of corporate groups and the duties directors and officers owe to creditors and other entities in the "zone of insolvency".

For over 25 years, Bill Boone has focused his practice on representation of unsecured creditors, financial institutions, trustees and indenture trustees in all aspects of significant domestic and international bankruptcy, workouts and reorganizations, including complicated litigation. In addition, he has substantial experience assisting clients in acquiring assets and operating businesses from bankruptcy estates. He leads the firm's international practice for the Bankruptcy Group, as well as the task force on municipal distressed assets (MAD).

Bill is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a charter member of the prestigious International Insolvency Institute (the “III”). In addition, he routinely lectures and publishes both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including bankruptcy litigation and international insolvency issues.

Since 2003, he has been a regular delegate and a presenter to UNCITRAL on bankruptcy and insolvency related issues. He is a past chair of the Atlanta Bar Association Bankruptcy Section, served on the board of directors for six years, and has been selected as a Super Lawyer in Georgia. He is also named as a leading insolvency/restructuring lawyer in the Guide to the World’s Leading Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers.
