Focus: Family Law provides an ideal introduction to family law. It contains clear explanations and analysis of the law and its underlying policy, as well as a synopsis of the facts of, and excerpts from, the leading judgments in key family law cases. Problem questions at the end of each chapter provide the opportunity to apply the principles to hypothetical scenarios, encouraging discussion of the broader impact of family law.

Included in this sixth edition is substantial discussion of cases and policy relating to the current debate on the harmful effects of violence against children, centred on the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Family Law Legislation Amendment (Family Violence and Other Measures) Act 2011.

Eithne Mills is an Honorary Fellow of the School of Law at Deakin University. She has taught, written and practised in the area of family law and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia.

Marlene Ebejer is a Lecturer at the School of Law at Deakin University and Principal Lawyer of Ebejer & Associates Lawyers Pty Ltd. She is an accredited family law specialist.
