The Butterworths Hong Kong Inland Revenue Law Handbook (Third Edition) is a detailed work of reference containing up-to-date materials on the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap 112), together with all subsidiary legislation of the Ordinance as currently in force. The annotations to the Third Edition are entirely brand-new, and encompass significant judicial decisions and rules of court, as well as notes ranging from definitions to discussion on practical aspects and contentious issues. Furthermore, the content is fully cross-referenced, with comprehensive tables of cases, legislation and other sources referred to.

The Handbook covers all relevant Court and Inland Revenue Board of Review cases decided not only in Hong Kong, but also in other common law jurisdictions. It also references journal articles and changes made to the legislation, along with the Inland Revenue Department’s Departmental Interpretation and Practice Notes.

This series has been cited, with authority, in over one hundred court cases in the Hong Kong Court of First Instance, Court of Appeal, and Court of Final Appeal. Lawrence Man

Lawrence Man, Barrister, MSc (Oxon), LLM (Lond) has practiced in the field of taxation for over 20 years, including the time spent outside the Bar. He specialises in advising and defending clients on tax issues associated with banking and securities, contract manufacturing, direct selling, e-commerce, transfer pricing, as well as audit and investigation. He regularly assists clients in resolving actual and potential disputes with Hong Kong and overseas tax authorities, without resorting to litigation. Lawrence is also the current author of the Taxation volume of Lord Millett's Hong Kong Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents and of Butterworths Hong Kong Inland Revenue Handbook. Prior to joining the Bar, Lawrence had practised taxation in-house with international financial institutions. He was a member of the consulting team involved in ING Baring and Magna prior to their appeal. Lawrence read tax law and policies at Oxford where he achieved the year's second highest score in the taxation of corporate finance.

Hui Chui Ying

Ying is a senior associate who advises high-net-worth individuals and trust corporations on a broad range of private client matters, with particular focus on trusts, wills, estate and succession planning, taxation, as well as establishment of charitable trusts.

Lai Tai Wai, David

David is a practising barrister at Gilt Chambers specialising in corporate, commercial and taxation laws with particular expertise in international tax and tax treaty interpretation. At Oxford, he received distinctions in tax treaties and transfer pricing. He has been appointed by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants as one of the Course Directors overseeing their Specialist Programs in Taxation. In addition, David was appointed as a Member of the Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance) from 2016 to 2021.
