Butterworths Hong Kong Inland Revenue Law Handbook is a detailed work of reference on the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap 112). This Handbook reproduces the text of the Ordinance and all relevant subsidiary legislation as currently in force along with section-by-section annotations, and examines signicant judicial decisions and rules of the court. It also covers departmental interpretation and practice notes by the Inland Revenue Department, and decisions by the Board of Review. The annotations provide definitions of words and phrases, discussions on practical aspects and contentious issues with reference to each section, and other authoritative materials.

This series has been cited with authority in over a hundred court cases in the Hong Kong Court of First Instance, the Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal. This Handbook is an invaluable source of information for practitioners, legal advisers, students and anyone interested in the laws governing taxation in Hong Kong.
Lawrence Man

Lawrence Man, Barrister, MSc (Oxon), LLM (Lond) has practiced in the field of taxation for over 20 years, including the time spent outside the Bar. He specialises in advising and defending clients on tax issues associated with banking and securities, contract manufacturing, direct selling, e-commerce, transfer pricing, as well as audit and investigation. He regularly assists clients in resolving actual and potential disputes with Hong Kong and overseas tax authorities, without resorting to litigation. Lawrence is also the current author of the Taxation volume of Lord Millett's Hong Kong Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents and of Butterworths Hong Kong Inland Revenue Handbook. Prior to joining the Bar, Lawrence had practised taxation in-house with international financial institutions. He was a member of the consulting team involved in ING Baring and Magna prior to their appeal. Lawrence read tax law and policies at Oxford where he achieved the year's second highest score in the taxation of corporate finance.
